What are JavaScript and Cookies?

JavaScript is a type of computer language which automates important functions.

Cookies are files which save important information to your device each time you log in to eGDC.

eGDC as with many other websites and web applications uses both JavaScript and Cookies.

They are important to allow eGDC to operate correctly and for important functions to work, improving your overall experience and security on the site. In particular, they are essential for updating your Personal and Security details, CPD and accessing the Help and FAQs webpages.

Q: How can I check if they are enabled on my browser?

A: Use the links below to check if your browser has Javascript and Cookies enabled. You will also find more information on how to enable them if they are not currently enabled

Q: I’m unable to enable either JavaScript or Cookies?

A: If either are disabled and you are unable to enable them you will encounter issues when using eGDC. Either install an alternative browser to your device (see Browsers) or access eGDC on an alternative device.

Q: JavaScript and Cookies are enabled, but I still have problems?

A: If you have confirmed that JavaScript and Cookies are enabled but you are still encountering problems, your browser may be out of date and require updating. Either update your existing browser to the latest version, install an alternative browser to your device, (see Browsers) or access eGDC on an alternative device

If you are using a work based device, do consult your IT department before updating or installing new software, this could affect other applications on your device.
